On Friday, May 30th, Crafty Grant and I took part in the Spring 2025 Absolute Rubbish Trashion Show at Meow Wolf—a celebration of sustainability, creativity, and pure queer joy. We each crafted floral-inspired looks made entirely from found, discarded, and repurposed materials.
My look paid homage to the concept of family—both the one we’re born into and the one we build for ourselves. You can read more about it (and see some gorgeous photos) in this great feature by Becky Duffyhill of Becky Duffyhill Creative.
Grant’s look was a showstopper: an oversized floral bouquet that unfolded into a cascading train of flowers. It’s captured beautifully in this article, with photography by Zack Hartman of ZHartman Photography.
Collaborating with Meow Wolf is always a dream, and events like Absolute Rubbish let us live out our childhood fantasies of unconventional design challenges à la Project Runway and RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Participating in the show was reward enough, but the icing on the cake was that Absolute Rubbish Sponsor Southwest Airlines donated free flights to all the designers. Puerta Vallarta here I come!
